Chemsol Chemblock 2K is a two-component acrylic flexible waterproofing system. Chemblock 2K is supplied in ready to mix polymer and powder kit. On curing Chemblock 2K forms a seamless waterproofing membrane on concrete and masonry surfaces.
Applications
- Retaining walls, parking deck and lift pits.
- Water tank and swimming pools.
- Bathrooms, terrace, balconies, planters, sloping roofs.
Features
- Two – component product.
- VOC free.
- Excellent adhesion to concrete surface.
- Easy to apply with brush, roller or squeegee.
- Flexible and elastic
- Quick drying.
Method of Application
1. Surface Preparation- Surface should be clean and dry and in sound condition.
- All the surface dirt, grease, loose particles should be removed from the surface. And the surface should be washed thoroughly with clean water.
- All other previous coatings if any shall be completely removed.
- The newly constructed surfaces shall be completely cured before coating application.
- All the surface cracks from 0 - 5mm shall be opened with a 3mm angle grinder.
- The opened cracks shall be cleaned properly and filled with Chem Crack Fill an acrylic crack-filler.
- Cracks more than 5mm should be repaired using polymer modified mortar using Chemsol Chemfast SBR. With a cement sand ratio of 1:3 and polymer content of 10% by weight if cement. Allow it to cure as required.
- Ponding test to be done to identify porous surfaces.
- The porous surfaces should be then grouted to remove any porosity in the substrate before coating application.
- Post ponding to be done to be certain that the surface porosity is completely removed and the surface is ready for coating application.
- The surface shall be in SSD condition before coating application.
- Mix the two components in the kit thoroughly with a low rpm mechanical mixer. Keep in mind to add powder to the polymer and not the other way around.
- The drain outlets need to be properly detailed with the coating with an additional piece of fiberglass mesh as a reinforcement.
- Apply 1st coat of Chemsol Chemblock 2K on the surface with a coverage of 0.75 Kg/Sqm/Coat all over the surface. Let the coating air dry for minimum 6hrs.
- Apply 2nd coat of Chemsol Chemblock 2K at an angle of 90o to the first coat with a coverage of 0.75 Kg/Sqm/Coat and let dry for minimum 6 hrs.
- For higher performance Glass Fiber reinforcement can be applied between 2 coats of Chemblock 2K.
- Let the system air cure for 4-5 days before pond test.
- Ponding shall be done with water not more than 5 cm in height.
Precautions and Limitations
- Do not dilute Chemblock 2K with water for coating application.
- Keep material closed when not in use.
- Corners, joints and repair areas should be treated with two extra coats.
- Surface must be in SSD condition for coating application.
- Not suitable for traffic area application.
- Chemblock 2K is an undercoat so it needs to be covered with a screed/coba for terrace or open area application.
- Do not cure by flooding with water.
