Chembrane HDPE

Chembrane HDPE is a superior high performance multi-application, prefabricated membrane with top layer of L shaped anchor notch for excellent mechanical bonding to the substrate. Its square grid design ensures that there is no water movement inside the membrane.

Method of Application

1. Surface Preparation

  • Surface should be clean and dry and in sound condition.

2. Application

  • Lay and fix the membrane properly on the surface. Overlap the membrane 100mm over other using special adhesive and compact it well. After the application steel laying work can be done. Concrete work can be done over the steel. Ensure that the surface is clean before pouring of the concrete.

Precautions and Limitations

  • Do not apply on wet or damp surfaces.
  • Precaution shall be taken to ensure proper adhesion between two membranes.

Method of Application

1. Surface Preparation

  • Surface should be clean and dry and in sound condition.
  • All the surface dirt, grease, loose particles should be removed from the surface.

2. Application

  • Apply a cement-based tile adhesive on the surface to be applied with membrane. Do ensure that the surface is well prepared according to the tile adhesive requirement. Apply the tile adhesive with the help of 3mm notch combed blade evenly on the surface.
  • Lay and fix the membrane properly on the surface and press it with a wooden float or roller to make sure that no air is entrapped. Overlap the membrane 100mm over other using tile adhesive and compact it well. After the application the tile application or concrete work can be done to cover the membrane for additional protection.

  • Precaution shall be taken to ensure proper adhesion between two membranes.

Chembrane APP

Chem Torch APP is a superior high performance prefabricated, modified bitumen membrane consisting of proprietary waterproofing compound reinforces with spun bonded non-woven polyester mat or glass fiber.

Method of Application

1. Surface Preparation

  • Surface should be clean and dry and in sound condition.
  • All the surface dirt, grease, loose particles should be removed from the surface.
  • Ensure that proper slope is provided and there is no water stagnation.
  • All other previous coatings if any shall be completely removed.

2. New Surfaces

  • The newly constructed surfaces shall be completely cured before membrane application.
  • Angle fillet shall be made along the corners of the surface so as to obtain an turning angle for membrane of more than 90o. Use Chemsol Chemfast SBR for
    the bond coat in a ratio 1:1 with cement for angle fillet.

3. Cracks and Joint Treatment

  • All the surface cracks shall be opened with a 3mm angle grinder.
  • The opened cracks shall be cleaned properly and filled with Chemsol Chem Crack Fill an acrylic crack-filler.
  • Cracks more than 5mm should be repaired using polymer modified mortar with Chemfast SBR. With a cement sand ratio of 1:3 and polymer content of 10% by weight of cement. Allow it to cure as required.

4. Priming

  • Apply priming coat with Chemsol Chem Torch Prime. The priming coat shall give approximate coverage of 40-50 Sqft/L depending upon the surface finish.

5. Application

  • Unroll the membrane on the surface.
  • Reroll the membrane after aligning it on the surface.
  • Use an open flame torch to heat the substrate and the membrane till the membrane softens. Once soft, roll the membrane forward and then press the membrane over the substrate so that the membrane adheres to the substrate.
  • Maintain a minimum overlap of 100mm in two adjacent membranes.
  • Use trowel to press the overlap over each other to form a seamless membrane.
  • Edges shall be properly covered with proper detailing.

Precautions and Limitations

  • Do not apply on wet or damp surfaces.
  • Do not overheat the Chem Torch membrane.
  • Using the primer is must for the membrane.
  • Extra care shall be taken while using open flame.
