Roof Waterproofing

Roofs are tricky surfaces when it comes to waterproofing because of their exposure to uncontrollable climatic conditions. Chemsol’s waterproofing coatings require no breaking of the existing system, while offering great results.

Chemroof

Chemsol Chemroof is an elastomeric waterproofing membrane based on modified acrylic emulsion which is strongly recommended for high build waterproof membrane which adheres to the surface and provides excellent water-resistant coating for years. This coating is extremely tough and elastic and can be applied easily with the help of a roller or squeegee.

Applications

  • Waterproofing plain slab and sloping roofs.
  • Waterproofing of parapet walls.

Features

  • Easy to apply with brush, squeegee or roller.
  • Good adhesion to concrete.
  • VOC free.
  • Can be applied on both horizontal and vertical surfaces.
  • Provides highly durable seamless waterproofing membrane.

Method of Application

1. Surface Preparation

  • Surface should be clean and dry and in sound condition.
  • All the surface dirt, grease, loose particles should be removed from the surface. And the surface should be washed thoroughly with clean water.
  • The surface should be moist before the coat application.

2. New Surfaces

  • The newly constructed surfaces shall be completely cured before coating application.

3. Cracks and Joint Treatment

  • All the surface cracks from 0 - 5mm shall be opened with a 3mm angle grinder.
  • The opened cracks shall be cleaned properly and filled with Chem Crack Fill an acrylic crack-filler or PU Sealant.
  • Cracks more than 5mm should be repaired using polymer modified mortar of Chemfast SBR. With a cement sand ratio of 1:3 and polymer content of 10% by weight if cement. Allow it to cure as required.

4. Priming

  • Apply priming coat with Chemsol Chemroof with 50% water dilution. The priming coat shall give approximate coverage of 80-100 Sqft/L depending upon the surface finish. The surface should be maintained in SSD condition prior to priming application. Chem Seal Prime can also be used for priming purpose wit 50% water dilution.

5. Application

  • Mix the bucket contents thoroughly.
  • The drain outlets need to be properly detailed with the coating with an additional piece of fiberglass mesh as a reinforcement.
  • Apply 1st coat of Chemsol Chemroof on the surface with a coverage of 0.45 Lit/Sqm/Coat all over the surface. Let the coating air dry for minimum 6hrs.
  • Apply 2nd coat of Chemsol Chemroof at an angle of 90o to the first coat and let dry for minimum 6 hrs.

6. Ponding

  • Let the system air cure for 7-8 days before pond test.
  • Ponding shall be done with water not more than 5 cm in height.

Precautions and Limitations

  • Do not dilute Chemroof with water for coating application.
  • Keep material closed when not in use.
  • Vehicular or machinery movement is not recommended on the coated surface.
